Changes at Nattypat

You may have noticed that there’s been more activity here at Nattypat in the last few weeks. Finally, I seem to be achieving a work/life balance and have been able to spend more time on what I truly want to do—Nattypat improvements, expansion and new patterns. So, you might be thinking, “What’s Natalie been up to and what are her plans?” Well…

The old NattypatCrochet.com.

This past year has been a whirlwind of activity for me. I started working for several new employers part time including, a couple of local newspapers and a national hotel chain doing graphic design work, as well as Simon Fraser University teaching a course in their Publishing Department (visit my Linkedin profile). This is the first year in my life where I’ve embraced a primarily work-from-home model without a single major employer. Needless to say, my routine was up in the air and it’s taken me the better part of the last year to get any kind of schedule in between the many different and often competing deadlines. I’m glad to report I’m loving it now, but it definitely caused me to put Nattypat in unfortunate second place for a while. Not any more.

With the university semester coming to a close in the next month, I’m planning ahead to a summer of many Nattypat developments. Over the last weeks I’ve increased my Blog(sp) post frequency, updated the look of the website, and been quietly developing new patterns and video tutorials. Soon I’ll be placing the finishing touches on a couple of new patterns. And, as I’ve just received my very first YouTube royalty cheque this past month, it’s most definitely time to start sharing more crochet techniques on YouTube, expanding that platform as well. OMG, it was exciting to see that you can actually earn money doing what you love via YouTube! So AWESOME!

Now, you might be asking, “Yes, but what are your specific plans Natalie?”

1. More regular Blog(sp) posts.
2. Launch the Ladybot robot crochet pattern.
3. Launch a checkerboard Take-along Picnic Mat crochet pattern.
4. Film and publish 10 or more new crochet video tutorials.
5. Work on independently publishing a book of crochet patterns.

Hang tight! It’s all coming. If you have a suggestion for a Nattypat Crochet project, please let me know via a comment below. As always, thanks for being there!
