If you’ve ever wondered, how Guinness World Records are made and verified, now’s your chance to find out. In just over a month on June 7th the Vancouver Maker Faire will host a Guinness World Record attempt in crochet. Yep, CROCHET. If you thought world records were mainly for sports and crazy stunts, you’re wrong.
The current Guinness World Record for the number of people simultaneously crocheting is a paltry 426. You, the crocheters of Vancouver, and the attendees of this year’s Maker Faire can do better! You don’t need to be an avid or experienced crocheter to participate either, just have a hook and make some chain stitches! To participate you’ll need to register and purchase a discounted event ticket to attend the Maker Faire at the PNE Forum. (Discounted ticket purchase available after you complete online registration).
To learn more about the Maker Faire, this year’s workshops and presenters, visit makerfaire.ca. I’ll be there doing a Crochet for Kids workshop earlier in the day, but there’s a plethora of other awesome wild maker stuff each year—don’t believe me, check out this promo video:
Hope to see you there!
