Crochet Classes with Nattypat
It’s been a little quiet here at Nattypat Crochet the last couple of months. I’ve gone back to full time work and it’s great, but I’m still working out how/when to schedule my Nattypat routine—pattern writing, social media, teaching and general maintenance. So here I am, time to get back at it! After all, it is in crochet that I find peace and relaxation.
So, what have I been up to lately? I’m very pleased to announce that I am now teaching crochet classes at Wet Coast Wools in Kitsilano, Vancouver. Join me at a couple of cosy tables surrounded by beautiful yarns to begin learning crochet or to advance your amigurumi (toy) making skills. Classes available are:
Beginner Crochet Workshop (single class)
Tuesday, April 16th, 6:30pm to 8:30pm or Tuesday, May 14th, 6:30pm to 8:30pm
This two-hour crochet class is designed for people who are new to crochet. This class will teach you the basics of crochet, including the ins and outs of yarn selection, how to choose the perfect crochet hook, how to hold and work yarn for correct tension (gauge), how to make a foundation chain, and how to work the single crochet. Additional techniques will be taught as each student’s skill level allows.
Amigurumi Perfection (two classes)
Saturdays, April 20th and 27th, 12:00pm to 2:00pm
Learn to make perfect crochet amigurumi with 12 inspired and easy-to-master finishing techniques from Natalie of Nattypat Crochet. Through hands-on practice and instructor visual aids, you’ll reach amigurumi perfection in this two-session class.

Nattypat Crochet: Hi Mare, I was teaching crochet classes in the Vancouver area up until recently. Unfortunately it’s quite difficult to get more than a couple people to enrol in crochet classes and I’ve also started working as an instructor in SFU’s publishing program so I’m quite busy. I tried teaching crochet through large craft stores, independent yarn stores and a local community centre, and had low turnouts and have now stopped teaching. I would recommend finding a meet up group (try Meetup.com) and looking for a crochet group. This way you can find like-minded people of varying skill levels to help each other learn without paying any fees for classes. I hope that helps. Good luck!
